Newsweek Writer to Visit Glee

Peace Talks

Will meet with writers and observe casting.

Glee creator Ryan Murphy is extending the olive branch: He’s invited the Newsweek writer Ramin Setoodeh to visit the show's set. This week, Setoodeh published an article, “Straight Jacket,” about gay actors in straight roles, which caused an uproar. Several stars condemned the article, including Kristin Chenoweth, and Murphy himself. But now, Murphy has invited the writer to the set to meet with the writers and observe the show’s casting process. Said Murphy: “On Glee, straight actors play gay roles, gay actors play straight roles and no one is discriminated against. I hope observing this process firsthand—and talking with our cast—will be illuminating to Mr. Setoodeh, and inform his future journalistic endeavors.”
