Former House Speaker and ardent Donald Trump supporter Newt Gingrich on Saturday jabbed at Russia in a tweet about its anti-Israel U.N. Security Council vote this week. "So Russia having illegally occupied Crimea and eastern Ukraine votes to condemn Israel for "occupied lands." We are supposed to be impressed," Gingrich tweeted. The council on Friday condemned Israel for its settlements in East Jerusalem and the West Bank that it occupied during the Six-Day War of 1967. Russia was one of 14 nations that voted to condemn Israel. The United States abstained. "It is because this resolution reflects the facts on the ground—and is consistent with U.S. policy across Republican and Democratic administrations throughout the history of the state of Israel—that the United States did not veto it," U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power said.
