Newt Gingrich is making his appeal to anti-Romney Republicans explicit: “I don't claim to be the perfect candidate,” Gingrich told an audience in South Carolina Tuesday. “I just claim to be a lot more conservative than Mitt Romney.” Without naming Romney, Gingrich attacked politicians who “adopt radically different positions.” “I wouldn't lie to the American people,” he said. “I wouldn't switch my position for political reasons.” Democrats, however, are mostly ignoring Gingrich and focusing their attacks on Romney.
