The National Football League and Major League Baseball will march for the very first time in New York City’s Pride March on June 24, Outsports reports. The website’s Cyd Zeigler writes that the MLB float will feature around 200 employees, including out former MLB umpire Dale Scott and gay MLB executive and former player Billy Bean, alongside deputy commissioner Dan Halem. Former NFL player Ryan O’Callaghan, who came out publicly last year, will be on the NFL float alongside former defensive back Wade Davis, who played for the Tennessee Titans, Seattle Seahawks, and Washington Redskins, and who came out in 2012 after he had left the game. Davis is now an activist and educator. Outsports reports that the NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, and WNBA are all registered as leagues to march in the New York parade. Outsports’ own Pride contingent will number around 100 LGBTQ athletes.
