The National Football League notified Adrian Peterson on Tuesday that he would be suspended without pay for the remainder of the 2014 season. The Minnesota Vikings star will appeal the suspension immediately, according to a league source. The NFL said Peterson won’t be considered for reinstatement before April 15. Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a letter to Peterson regarding the suspension: “You have shown no meaningful remorse for your conduct. When indicted, you acknowledged what you did but said that you would not ‘eliminate whooping my kids’ and defended your conduct in numerous published text messages to the child’s mother.” Peterson was indicted in September for hitting his son with a switch, leaving bruises and cuts on his arms, legs, back, rear end, and scrotum. He pleaded guilty to a lesser misdemeanor charge to avoid jail.
