Nikki Haley: ‘Diplomatic’ Window for North Korea Solution Is Closing

Warns that military options are on the table, but not desired.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley issued a stern warning to North Korea on Wednesday, saying the window for a diplomatic solution to the escalating nuclear crisis is closing. “Their actions are quickly closing off the possibility of a diplomatic solution,” Haley said at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, adding that military options are on the table. The meeting was called a day after the North Korean regime fired an intercontinental ballistic missile. President Trump floated the possibility of cutting off trade deals “with countries that do not help us” in a tweet early Wednesday—an implicit warning to China, which props up North Korea’s economy.
