No Deal in Obama's Shutdown Summit

DAY TWO

Reid: “We are locked in tight on Obamacare.”

President Obama called congressional leaders to the White House on Wednesday to work out a way to get the government going again, two days into a shutdown that has furloughed hundreds of thousands of federal employees. Unfortunately there was no progress. Harry Reid spoke out following the meeting: “My friend John Boehner cannot take yes for an answer.” Those invited, including Speaker Boehner, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Mitch McConnell, have publicly feuded over the spending measure and show no signs of wavering, regardless of the economic consequences. Congressional Democrats have said they won’t negotiate, while their most conservative GOP counterparts are refusing to bend.
