There will be no funeral for Mark Madoff, the son of Bernie Madoff, as his family has opted for cremation without a service or viewing, the New York Post reported Tuesday. Madoff was found dead Saturday after he hanged himself with a dog leash, and his death was officially ruled a suicide Tuesday. Madoff and his brother, Andrew Madoff, turned their father in for the largest Ponzi scheme in history two years ago. While the brothers have never been criminally charged, their names have come up in several lawsuits that are attempting to recover the stolen money. Before hearing there would be no funeral, Bernie Madoff’s lawyer said Monday that the disgraced financier would not attend a service, and sources said Mark Madoff had not spoken to his father or his mother, Ruth Madoff, since alerting authorities of the Ponzi scheme.
