Newly married pop star Katy Perry crooned about her “skin tight jeans” in her latest hit, “Teenage Dream” and her “Daisy Dukes” in the summer single, “California Girls.” But neither of these garments were anywhere to be found at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York on Nov. 10. The 26-year-old singer, who wed Russell Brand in October, donned a massive, plum-colored bustle attached to her purple lingerie to perform at the annual fashion show this week, taking yet another pants-less style chance. “I've gone from Betty Boop to more Bettie Page. It's less cute and more meow,” she told Lucky magazine of her sexy ensembles.

Rihanna’s fire engine red braid was shockingly not the focus of her get-up when she performed her new smash, “Only Girl in the World” on X Factor in Italy on Nov. 9. The 22-year-old singer showed off her legs and her toned stomach in a ruffled, blossom bikini top and floral high-cut bottom, which she paired with some black combat boots. And Rihanna may be the pioneer to spread the pants-less craze to the masses. “I love fashion so much and I can’t wait to do my own range,” she recently said in an interview in London. “It’s another creative outlet for me and it’s something I genuinely love and will do.”

Hannah Montana’s leading lady has been struggling with the news of her parents’ divorce recently, but is that an excuse for 17-year-old Miley Cyrus to leave the house without pants on? The Disney star performed her new single “Who Owns My Heart” at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Madrid on Nov. 7 and though her arms were modestly covered by her translucent spandex suit, her legs did not fare so well. Cyrus first debuted her leotard look this summer and it has continued to infiltrate her touring attire. Even E! Online agreed that Cyrus’ ensemble “isn't the most appropriate look for a not-quite-legal lady with a massive tween following.”

The actress behind Gossip Girl’s “Little J,” Taylor Momsen, is seemingly determined to prove she’s growing up. The 17 year old’s quest has included flashing the crowd as she tours with her band Pretty Reckless, donning a dog collar around her neck, and apparently, not wearing pants. At MTV’s Europe Music Awards on Nov. 7, Momsen stepped out in an incorrectly buttoned black top and not much else besides a whole lot of cleavage and eye make-up. “I don’t really like pants, man. I like tights. I’m not really a pants person,” she told Entertainment Weekly earlier this year. “I choose not to wear pants.”

It isn’t only teens and twentysomethings ditching their drawers in public as of late—a very scantily clad Eva Longoria Parker hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards on Nov. 7. Though she changed her outfit many times during the broadcast, Desperate Housewives’ fieriest mom on the block was consistent in that she revealed her legs in nearly every outfit. This ruffled and leather look was just one of 13 for the 35-year-old actress.

The “Take It Off” singer has never met a hair brush or a pair of pants that she liked. Since stepping onto the music scene with her hit “Tik Tok” in 2009, Ke$ha has essentially made fur, leather, and leotards her uniform. And the MTV Europe Music Awards on Nov. 7 were no different—the 23-year-old pop star appeared in fluorescent face paint and a neon green, netted leotard. Ke$ha’s reputation for going out without bottoms is legendary. Elle’s creative director Joe Zee sat with the singer during New York Fashion Week in February and tweeted, “Spent the funnest afternoon with Ke$ha and now just left Erin Wasson’s show where Ke$ha wore no pants and Erin showed long dresses. Irony!”

From leather underwear to vintage Thierry Mugler gold-corseted bodysuits, Lady Gaga's fashion sense is anything but tame. But, whether she's clad in bubbles or body paint, bare legs are a staple of her over-the-top style. Despite having had run-ins with the cops as a result of barely there hot pants, Lady Gaga has refused to tone down the flesh factor. Of the look, Lady Gaga has said: "I look like such a tranny! It's amazing! I look like Grace Jones, androgynous, robo, future fashion queen. It's not what is sexy. It's graphic, and it's art."

Big Love star Ginnifer Goodwin graces the cover of W this month clad in only a pair of tights and Balenciaga viscose jersey briefs from the waist down. The photograph and accompanying editorial spread were shot by Steven Klein (who just so happens to be the favorite photographer of Madonna, a fellow tights-as-pants fan).

Parisian designer Jean Paul Gaultier, commonly referred to as fashion's favorite enfant terrible, infused his Fall 2009 collection with a fair bit of kink. Men's wear was a big influence, as was S&M. The fruits of this included quite a few pant-less looks like totally transparent skirts and tights worn like trousers topped off with bodysuits.

At a recent event at H&M in Manhattan for the launch of Fashion Against AIDS Collection, man about town Andre J sported an eye-catching white unitard and tights combo (by no means his first public appearance sans pants). Having started his fashion career at Patricia Field's Bowery boutique, the eccentric, cross-dressing fashion plate has garnered quite a reputation within the fashion industry. He even landed a spot on the cover of French Vogue's November 2007 issue alongside mannequin Caroline Trentini. Taking gender bending to the next level, Andre J is proof that going pant-less isn't just for the ladies.

Baywatch star-turned-Vivienne Westwood muse Pamela Anderson has never been shy about showing off her assets. And, such was the case at Art Basel Miami this past year. According to Page Six, the voluptuous blonde was spotted "wearing a gray T-shirt, yellow underwear and pink heels," as she made her way to various art exhibits and after-parties.

For Yves Saint Laurent's FW09 collection, Stefano Pilati showcased a bevy of looks in black leather. The collection focused on timeless, yet dramatic garments—one of the most memorable of which was a slim-fitting, strapless leather bodysuit styled solely with a pair of fishnet stockings and high heels.

Marc Jacobs' new muse, model Daisy Lowe, furthered the tights-as-pants trend in London last fall with a particularly eye-catching leopard-print unitard. The rock offspring sported the outfit first for a Fashion for Relief Runway Show, but liked the look so much she wore it out on the town for the rest of the night.

Model Chanel Iman pulled a Nan Kempner back in April for the launch of Brit designer Matthew Williamson's capsule collection for H&M. But the mannequin's choice to de-pant just before hitting the red carpet at the aforementioned event was purely by her own admission. "I had on pants earlier, but I just took them off," she told New York Magazine.

Not only is the tabloid fever-inducing starlet a huge fan of leggings as pants (she even has her own line of the trouser alternative called 6216 after Marilyn Monroe's birthday). But, in recent months, Lohan has been photographed more often than not trading in leggings for tights as her leg covering-of-choice.

Miuccia Prada caused quite a stir with her '40s-inspired FW09 collection, which included thigh-high fishing waders in a predominantly muted palette. The statement footwear was paired with a variety of looks that included wool hot pants. "It was about a need for feminine empowerment," Prada said of the collection.

Actress/fashion designer Chloe Sevigny surfaced at an event wearing denim shorts so short they barely covered more than briefs. Already a fan of short shorts as a red-carpet look, Sevigny's recent style statement definitely puts her in the anti-pants category.

Madonna is no stranger to performing or posing for ads in barely there bodysuits and fishnet stockings. But, her fearlessness with regard to exposed flesh is true of her red-carpet style as well. Madge showed up at the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame Awards last year wearing a totally transparent skirt, which left very little to the imagination.

Call it getting into character, but Sienna Miller definitely went through an Edie Sedgwick stage, stylistically speaking, in the midst of shooting Factory Girl. The actress was spotted wearing Sedgwick's signature tights paired with exposed undergarments out on the town on a few occasions.

Actress and musician Juliette Lewis opted for tights paired with tiny leather bottoms for the Diesel xXx Rock & Roll Circus in Brooklyn late last year. Call them hot pants or briefs, the look was all about leg.
