No Strings Attached Tops Box Friday Office

Box Office

Portman's first No. 1 movie since V for Vendetta.

It's a far cry from the acclaimed Black Swan, but Natalie Portman's new romantic comedy with Ashton Kutcher, No Strings Attached, was a hit at the box office on Friday. According to studio estimates, it’s on pace to finish the weekend at $20 million. The Green Hornet took second place on Friday night, with $5.1 million, followed by The Dilemma, The King's Speech, and True Grit. No Strings Attached reportedly had a low budget of $25 million, which is minuscule in comparison to other recent box-office hits like Little Fockers (budgeted at $100 million) and The Dilemma ($70 million), making the movie's early earnings all the more sweet for Paramount Pictures.
