Michael Slager has been fired by the North Charleston police department after his arrest Tuesday on a murder charge for shooting and killing Walter Scott. The termination was announced at a Wednesday press conference by Mayor Keith Summey and Police Chief Eddie Driggers that was interrupted by cries of "We want Driggers!" and "No justice, no peace!"
Chief Driggers said he was "sickened by what I saw" in the video. When asked about the item Slager dropped near Scott's body, Driggers said: "There are questions that I have in my mind that I can't answer right now." Summery said Scott's funeral will get a police escort.
