North Korean state news agency KCNA announced that the Hermit Kingdom will set its clocks back by 30 minutes to create “Pyongyang time.” The time will reset on Aug. 15—the date that will mark the 70th anniversary of the country’s liberation from Japan. This new time will set North Korea half an hour behind Tokyo and Seoul. North Korea already operates on its own calendar, which counts from the birth of its founding leader, Kim II Sung.
