North Korea Threatens to End Nuclear Talks With ‘Gangster-Like’ U.S.
DRIFTING APART
North Korea has threatened to suspend talks with the United States and restart its missile and nuclear tests in response to the “gangster-like” actions of top U.S. officials. Relations between the two countries have degraded in the wake of the failed talks between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un last month. In comments reported Friday morning, North Korea’s Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui blamed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton for the breakdown in talks and said: “I want to make it clear that the gangster-like stand of the U.S. will eventually put the situation in danger.” She added: “We have no intention to yield to the U.S. demands [at the Hanoi summit] in any form, nor are we willing to engage in negotiations of this kind.” However, she went on to say the relationship between Trump and Kim is “still good” and described the chemistry between the two as “mysteriously wonderful.”
