A South Korean fisherman whose dramatic escape from North Korean custody after he was abducted in the 1970s has died of COVID-19 in a South Korean hospital. Yun Jong-su has made headlines sporadically since 2008 while trying to find his daughter, who was born in North Korea but who was arrested while trying to defect. He died of COVID-19 before finding her, despite efforts to draw international attention to her cause.
