Shockingly, there’s no official protocol at the University of Notre Dame on how to deal with a hoax involving a star football player and a fake dead girlfriend. As such, the school’s president, Rev. John Jenkins, sent Notre Dame’s board of trustees a letter outlining and defending the university’s actions when the Manti Te’o hoax scandal broke. The letter says administrators quickly decided after learning about the hoax that Te’o hadn’t broken any laws or NCAA rules. Jenkins also said he believes, in the face of intense scrutiny, that Te’o’s story has held up.
