Indiana State Police say five Notre Dame football players were arrested Friday night after police found marijuana and a handgun in their vehicle during a traffic stop. Police identified those arrested as Max Redfield, sophomore cornerback Ashton White, freshman wide receiver Kevin Stepherson, sophomore running back Dexter Williams, and sophomore linebacker Te’von Coney. Each were charged with possession of marijuana, and Redfield, Stepherson, and Williams faced additional charges for possessing a handgun with no license. The players were initially pulled over in Fulton County for speeding, but when police smelled marijuana in the car, a police dog was brought in and the drugs and gun found. Meanwhile, another Notre Dame player, Devin Butler, was arrested early Saturday for battery of a police officer and resisting arrest after an incident at a bar in South Bend.
