This news story is brought to you by the letters “N,” “P,” and “R.” Former Sesame Workshop CEO Gary Knell will be the new head of NPR, filling in for Vivian Schiller, who left in March amid controversy. Schiller’s harsh comments about the Tea Party and Republicans were caught on camera by conservative activist James O’Keefe. Knell has managed the nonprofit organization that funds Sesame Street for the past 12 years. He’s also had a hand in producing versions of the show specifically for different locations.
