So a nun walks into a nuclear plant … The United States’ only uranium processing and storage facility has been shut down after protestors—including an 82-year-old nun—broke through security fences last week. The three antinuclear activists painted slogans in what they claimed was human blood on the wall of the enriched uranium building before security caught them. A spokeswoman for the activists says the three protestors are 57, 63, and 82, and call themselves “Transform Now Plowshares.” The three protestors have been arrested and charged with vandalism and criminal trespass. Although the breach occurred last Friday, officials are only now confirming the facility shutdown, which is expected to continue into next week.
