Jesse Sbaih, an immigrant from Jordan who is currently running for a U.S. House seat in Nevada claims that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told him not to run because "a Muslim cannot win this race." A spokeswoman for Reid said that Sbaih had never said this. This is Sbaih's first run for office, in a district including a suburban patch of Las Vegas. “I did not feel that this was an issue. They made it an issue. My campaign is about me being an American,” Sbaih told The Washington Post.
