Maybe god wanted her to be unemployed? A clerk in a rural New York town of Barker has quit her job, refusing to grant same-sex marriage licenses. Laura Fotusky, 56, said she would have been "compromising my moral conscience" and "had to choose between my job and my god." Fotusky is a twice-elected Republican in the town of about 2,700 people. Her resignation of her $24,205-a-year job will be effective July 21, three days before gay marriage takes effect in the state.
