Kyle Lauletta, the backup quarterback for the New York Giants, was arrested in Weehawken, New Jersey, Tuesday morning after he “nearly ran over the officer directing traffic,” NJ Advance Media reports. The 23-year-old was reportedly on his way to the team’s practice facility in East Rutherford when he tried to “make a right turn from the wrong lane.” Lauletta was directed to keep going straight, but he reportedly made the right in his Jaguar and almost hit an officer in the process. He was then stopped by another officer at the end of the on-ramp to Route 495 West, the report says. One source told the website that Lauletta made the same traffic maneuver Monday and was not stopped. The source also said police reportedly saw his license plate and “issued two summonses” to Lauletta by mail.” “We are aware of the situation and are in contact with Kyle… We are still gathering information,” a Giants official told the website. Fans hoped to see the fourth draft pick from Richmond University on the starting lineup this week.
