New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio took to Twitter Friday to join the growing call to abolish ICE, labeling the Homeland Security agency “broken” and “divisive” in the wake of the Trump administration’s family separation policy. “Every country needs reasonable law enforcement on their borders,” de Blasio wrote. “ICE is not reasonable law enforcement. ICE is broken, it’s divisive and it should be abolished.” With this tweet, de Blasio joins the expanding ranks of politicians calling for ICE’s demise, including Cynthia Nixon, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), and New York’s Democratic Congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
