NYPD Heckles Comedian During Arrest (NSFW)

Cops cuff audience member during comic Adam Newman’s stand-up set

Stand-up comedian Adam Newman encountered one of the toughest rooms any comic could work over the weekend. During his set at the UCB Theatre in Manhattan, NYPD officers came in and arrested a man in the audience.

Newman took the interruption in stride, making jokes about the proceedings that prompted one of the officers to tell him to ‘shut the f*** up.’ Newman wasn’t able to handle the officer in the same way that he would any civilian heckler, but he eventually regained control of the room by joking about the situation itself. ‘Can you imagine if the police came in while they were trying to shove the dildo in?’ Newman asked the audience, referring to a comedy troupe that preceded Newman. Based on the short clip Newman added into his own video for reference, part of the act seems to have involved sexual misconduct with a blow-up doll.As if such an intrusion weren’t frustrating enough for a comic, Newman told the audience that he was recording that evening’s set to send to Conan in hopes of getting a spot on the show. Ironically, his quick recovery after such a room-cooling moment could still land him the gig. The exposure this video is getting couldn’t hurt either.
