President Obama on Tuesday appointed the first out transgender staffer to work in the White House. “Raffi Freedman-Gurspan demonstrates the kind of leadership this administration champions,” Valerie Jarrett said in a statement on the new recruitment director of the presidential personnel office. Freedman-Gurspan was adopted from Honduras and raised in Brookline, Massachusetts.
