Obama Axes Part of Health Plan

Congressional Republicans got their way with this one: The White House announced Friday that it will not be moving forward with a new long-term health-care insurance plan, a key program in Obama’s health-care overhaul. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius wrote to Congress that the program couldn’t be implemented at this time, while officials said the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports program has design problems and can’t sustain itself financially. The program was intended to be a voluntary insurance plan for working adults, regardless of age or health, supported by premiums rather than taxpayer dollars.
