President Obama has some egg on his face: Solyndra, a California solar-panel manufacturer that the president had previously praised as an energy leader, filed for bankruptcy Wednesday. The company, which the White House had given loan guarantees, blamed “regulatory and policy uncertainties” for a difficult business climate. The bankruptcy filing leaves 1,100 people out of work and taxpayers on the hook for the company’s $535 million in federal loans. Republicans, who were already investigating the White House’s loan guarantee, have vowed to press forward with their investigation.
