In a speech in Detroit on Labor Day, President Obama once again called on lawmakers to put aside their differences and create jobs. Specifically, he challenged the GOP to put the "country before the party." Besides courting the support of unions and touting his achievements for the middle class, Obama gave a “sneak peek” of the anticipated jobs speech he’ll give on Thursday, saying that roads and bridges need repair and construction workers are out of work. He urged Washington to pass laws to subsidize infrastructure projects, and said businesses and labor unions are all on board with the plan. “We just need Congress to get on board,” he said. “Let’s put America back to work!”
