Obama Makes Surprise Afghanistan Visit

President Obama has made a surprise visit to Afghanistan after a secret overnight trip from Washington D.C. Air Force One landed at Bagram Air Field on Sunday night local time. He is expected to address the troops and country singer Brad Paisley, who traveled with the president, is expected to perform. Obama is not scheduled to meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, with whom he has had a frosty relationship since Karzai refused to sign a security pact earlier this year. The trip comes as Obama is dealing with domestic uproar over reports that poorly managed VA hospitals resulted in the death of at least 40 veterans.
