They weren’t invited to Wills and Kate’s wedding, but the Obamas are getting their own taste of the royal lifestyle this week. President Obama, in London for a state visit, was welcomed lavishly, with a 62-gun salute, a rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, and a state dinner with Queen Elizabeth II. The Obamas will spend two nights in the Buckingham Palace suite that Will & Kate used on their wedding night. Such state visits occur only twice yearly. But Obama is also grappling with worldly concerns, meeting with Prime Minister David Cameron to discuss policy issues—the two men penned a joint editorial in Tuesday’s Times of London—while also monitoring the effects of the tornado in Missouri from afar.
