Who doesn’t love coming into a government agency in the middle of a scandal? Welcome to the IRS, Daniel Werfel. President Obama on Thursday named Werfel the acting commissioner of the IRS. Werfel, who is said to have a good relationship with the Senate Republicans, currently runs the day-to-day operations at the Office of Management and Budget. Werfel comes into the IRS just one day after acting commissioner Steven Miller resigned amid a scandal over the agency’s targeting of conservative groups for investigation into their tax-exempt status.
