Obama Picks Daley for Chief of Staff

Former Commerce sec opposed health-care, financial reform.

Departing Press Secretary Robert Gibbs will certainly be hearing from the “professional left” on this one: President Obama has chosen William Daley, the former Commerce secretary under President Clinton and a vice chairman at JP Morgan, to serve as his chief of staff. Daley appears to have opposed both of President Obama’s biggest legislative achievements of the 2010: financial reform and health-care reform. Daley’s brother, Richard, stepped aside as mayor of Chicago so that Rahm Emanuel, whose job William Daley is taking, could run for mayor.
