Making good on his State of the Union “moonshot” promise, President Obama’s budget will propose spending close to $1 billion over two years on fighting cancer. According to White House officials, the president is set to ask Congress for $755 million in 2017, and $195 million for this year, in funding largely focused on the National Institutes of Health’s efforts in early detection and treatment of all kinds of cancer.
