Former field director for the Obama campaign, Ronnie Cho—"one of the breakout stars" of HBO’s documentary By the People—is joining The Daily Beast as community editor. “The Daily Beast is really a dream come true for anyone who has spent time bringing people together for a common purpose," Cho said. Cho will be a driving force behind the site’s social-action and user engagement initiatives, including Giving Beast. Founder and editor in chief Tina Brown said: "On the heels of our successful Women in the World Summit, we are continuing to expand our commitment to coverage of social issues, and finding innovative ways to engage our community.”
