It beats talking about health care: Barack Obama is set to throw out the first pitch of the Major League Baseball season, a presidential tradition since William Howard Taft first stepped up to the mound in 1910. Obama, who was traveling during last year’s season opener, is scheduled to kick off the game between the Washington Nationals and the Philadelphia Phillies on April 5. “I am proud that President Obama will continue the long presidential tradition of throwing out the first pitch,” said Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, calling it “a special event for our country.”
