President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will attend events in New York City, Pennsylvania, and Washington in September to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the White House said Tuesday. White House spokesman Jay Carney said Obama will honor those who died in the terrorist attacks as well those who have served in the overseas wars. Vice President Joe Biden will help dedicate a memorial at Shanksville, Pa., on Sept. 10.
