President Obama decided he would sing "Amazing Grace" at the funeral of Rev. Clementa Pinckney while aboard Marine One en route to South Carolina last month. According to White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, the president told her and Michelle Obama of his plans. "Why on Earth would that fit in?" Michelle apparently replied. At the ceremony, when he paused before singing, he told Jarrett he wasn't doubting his choice. “He said, ‘Oh no, I knew I was going to sing. I was just trying to figure out which key to sing it.’”
