President Obama has vetoed a $612 billion defense bill after declaring that the bipartisan piece of legislation "resorts to gimmicks," largely at the hands of congressional Republicans. The president opposed the bill because it did not increase domestic spending, and because it includes a provision making it more difficult to close the controversial Guantanamo Bay detention facility.
