And it begins: President Obama’s complex and ambitious budget with a $1.75 trillion deficit may overturn three decades of conservative practices, but The Washington Post says “he is now gambling with his own future and the success of his presidency.” As promised in the campaign, he has managed to immediately tackle health care, energy, and education. Comparisons are already being made to the New Deal, the Great Society, and Ronald Reagan's 1981 legislation to decrease the size of the government. Advisers feel the President should do less rather than more, with senior adviser David Axelrod saying “[These] are extraordinary times, and they require extraordinary steps."
