Obama's Reading List

100 DAYS OF BOOKS

What POTUS reads before going to sleep.

Despite trying to do everything over the last 100 days, President Obama has still found time to read. In an interview he gave to the New York Times Magazine, Obama revealed that he had become so sick of briefing books, that he’s lately spent evenings reading PEN/ Faulkner Award winner Netherland by Joseph O’Neill. Last week, Sag Harbor author Colson Whitehead made a happy discovery: that Obama had read one of his books. Whitehead wrote on Twitter: “Nexis find: Chicago Sun Times 1/22/03, in Meet Obama Q&A: Last Movie Seen… Last Good Book Read: John Henry Days [!]” But Obama hasn’t kept all his promises in office: during his recent visit to Turkey, the leader of the opposition party presented the President with two books about Turkey. “I’ll be sure to read them,” Obama told him. So far, nothing yet.
