Jimmy Kimmel ripped into President Trump’s attempts to criticize ongoing ICE unrest during a speech at the Detroit Economic Club on Tuesday.
Trump spent much of the speech insulting former President Joe Biden and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, but Kimmel was particularly angry at Trump’s spin on the ongoing ICE protests in Minneapolis.
“[Trump] attempted to convince those in attendance that the protests in Minneapolis are not real,” Kimmel explained.
Kimmel showed a clip of Trump claiming that the protests, spurred by an ICE officer’s shooting of Minnesota citizen Renee Good last week, are “so fake.” Trump claimed that the supposedly fake protesters “take hotel rooms and all practice together.”
“That’s right,“ Kimmel mocked. ”They order room service and they practice. It’s like Motel January 6 is where they do it.”

“They’re real,” Kimmel clarified about the protests.
The late-night host added, “First they want us to believe that we did not see what we all saw happen to Renee Good. Now he wants us to believe the protests aren’t real.”
“It’s like the Emperor’s New Clothes in reverse,” Kimmel joked. “He’s telling us we’re the ones who are naked, while they do their best to cover everything up.”

Kimmel also trashed the Justice Department for apparently pressuring senior prosecutors in Minnesota to investigate Renee Good’s widow.
“They’re investigating the victims instead of the perpetrator,” Kimmel said with disgust.
Kimmel also shared a Truth Social post from Trump in which the president claimed he was saving Minnesota from the deranged criminals roaming within it. Trump wrote to the people of Minnesota, “THE DAY OF RECKONING & RETRIBUTION IS COMING!”

“Does anyone else miss the days when the president didn’t sound like the Undertaker at WrestleMania?” Kimmel asked.
“I mean, seriously, would somebody get this hyperglycemic 5-year-old a fidget spinner? He needs something to do with his hands,” Kimmel joked.
Kimmel concluded about Trump, “I really don’t know what this old nut is rambling about.”
