Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson Get Tricked Into a Casino Heist

ARMED, BUT NOT DANGEROUS

The “SNL” alums are an odd couple in the trailer for the new comedy “The Pickup.”

Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson may be armed, but Keke Palmer is dangerous.

Prime Video just dropped the first trailer for The Pickup, a new heist comedy about mismatched truck drivers, Russell (Murphy) and Travis (Davidson), who get wrapped up in a risky casino heist masterminded by Zoe (Palmer) after going for what they thought was a routine cash pickup. To make matters worse, this situation is Travis’ fault, as his recent intense fling with Zoe is how she got the idea to rope them into her plan.

“If you let us go, I’ll let you bang my twin sister,” Travis pleads to one of Zoe’s accomplices in the trailer. “She’s just like me, but with long hair.”

Russell immediately shuts him down, whispering, “Are you trying to get us shot!?”

Written by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider and directed by Tim Story, the film also stars Eva Longoria, Jack Kesy, Joe Anoa’I, Ismael Cruz Cordova, and former NFL football player Marshawn Lynch.

In an interview with the Jennifer Hudson Show, Story spoke about working with a comedy legend like Murphy.

“He’s an icon,” he said. “We hear a lot about comedians talking about how much he’s made an impact on them, [but] sometimes you don’t hear how he’s impacted filmmaking… He’s a big reason why I make the movies I make.”

Set to hit the streaming platform on Aug. 6, The Pickup is bringing two generations of SNL stars together to hopefully give everyone a comedy hit to remember.
