In the latest demonstration of Occupy Wall Street, thousands of protesters marched across the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday—and up to 700 people were arrested by Saturday evening. By Saturday afternoon, police had blocked the group on both sides of the bridge and had begun arrests. Officials could not confirm how many were arrested, since the protest was still going on. Saturday’s march was focused on poverty, and the Occupy Wall Street group was joined by several unions, including the Transit Workers Union and the United Federation of Teachers.
