An off-duty police officer allegedly shot a “combative” patient at St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston Thursday morning, police said. The shooting took place at around 11 a.m., after security at the hospital tried to hold back a patient during a scuffle. The patient survived, officials said. In a separate incident Wednesday night in Ohio, a Garfield Heights off-duty police officer shot a man in the neck after police say the man fought with officers on the way to the psychiatric unit of a hospital. The man, who is now in critical condition, took the officer’s taser and used it on a nurse, according to the officer.
