A man and a women who fell critically ill in southwestern England on Tuesday were poisoned with Novichok, the same nerve agent used in the attack on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal, police said Wednesday. The couple, identified by news outlets as Charlie Rowley and Dawn Sturgess, was found unconscious in Amesbury, which is about eight miles from Salisbury, where Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned. Anti-terrorism officials are investigating the incident. Authorities said that so far there’s “nothing in their background” that would suggest the couple was targeted.
