Officials: Military Wants A 6-Month Delay For Transgender Enrollment

U.S. military leaders will seek a six-month delay in allowing transgender people to enlist, officials told the AP. The Army and Air Force had previously asked that policy dictate a two-year wait, but this request was rejected. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis will consider the new delay request and make a final policy decision. The armed services have until July 1 to develop policies regarding the enrollment of transgender individuals.
