The newly installed mayor of Akron, Ohio, admitted Friday to inappropriately touching a female employee and announced that he will not seek re-election in November. Garry Moneypenny was only sworn in as mayor on Sunday, after his predeccessor abruptly resigned in May. The “too-personal” incident in question occurred as he hugged a female employee after being elevated from city council president to mayor. “I spent 37 years in law enforcement. I’ve spent years in service to victim’s assistance. I regret violating the very same principles I’ve spent my career upholding,” he said.
