Olsen Twins and Alexander Wang join CFDA

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have been admitted into the CFDA for their two fashion lines, The Row and Elizabeth and James. Also earning the CFDA honor is 26-year-old Alexander Wang, who in addition has been nominated for the 2009 Swiss Textiles Award. But what good is all that talent if you can’t lend it to your posterity? Wang, a former Vogue intern from way back when (er, 2004—he’s come a long way), sat down with the magazine’s latest wunderkind, student/intern/jewelry designer Misty Sidell, to share his pearls of wisdom. Wang’s message? Marketing is key—no secret at Vogue. “It’s never too early to start branding yourself,” newly enlightened Sidell said after her brush with greatness. “Alex convinced me that it really makes your collection more cohesive.”
