Omarosa Manigault, aide to Donald Trump and former Apprentice and Survivor star, said there is a “huge movement” of black voters ditching the Democrats and shifting to the Republican Party. “Traditionally, African-Americans have been Democrat, and I think the Democrats have taken advantage and taken for granted the African-American vote,” she told Fox News. “You are seeing a huge movement of African-Americans moving to the Republican Party,” she said. She didn’t offer any statistics or evidence for the “huge movement,” but New York Times exit polls did show an increase in black voters since 2012—a 2-percentage-point increase. While Mitt Romney had 6 percent support among black voters in 2012, Trump got a whole 8 percent in 2016, according to the Times data. Manigault’s remarks came after reports she led a meeting between Trump’s transition team and leaders of various black organizations in Washington on Wednesday.
