Police in Rockford, Illinois were involved in a standoff with a shooting suspect who fatally shot at least one person and injured two others in a Super 8 Motel parking lot early Sunday morning. Rockford police tweeted that they had evacuated the motel shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday morning after an active shooter was identified inside the structure. The standoff lasted several hours before police stormed the room and found the shooter dead by what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
