Less than a week after a deadly coal mine explosion and subsequent collapse in West Virginia, a silver mine in northern Idaho has caved in, leaving one miner missing. Hecla Mining Company spokeswoman Melanie Hennessey said the mine collapsed around 5:30 p.m. on Friday at the eerily named Lucky Friday Mine in Mullan, Idaho. She said that a portion of the mine is blocked, and a federal Mine Safety and Health Administration official reported the missing miner but would not disclose more details.
